What’s the first step?
After reviewing our portfolio, the only thing left to do is contact us, pay the $150 non-refundable retainer fee. Once received, we can set up your Portrait Planning Session.
What is the Retainer Fee for?
By Paying the Retainer Fee, you are paying for my promise to come shoot your session on the day scheduled. In turn I will be turning down any other potential assignments on your agreed date. Please understand that if you cancel the agreed upon date, the retainer will not be refunded. However, if you need to change the date due to some unforseen situation, one time accomodations can be made, at no additional charge, to reschedule. Any other changes after that will be an additional $50. The Retainer fee also covers phone and/or in-person consultation, the day of your session along with the location, basic retouching of images, and in-person sales.
You are probably already familiar with the retainer fee; however, for the sake of argument, I would like to point out that a number of other professions use retainer fees. Here’s a short list: Doctors – certain doctors who practice “Boutique Medicine” use retainers; Bankers – their retainers are upfront fees charged to clients, even if “the deal” eventually doesn’t go through; Freelancers – software engineers, web designers, copywriters, consultants and such all use retainers of some sort, allowing them to pay the bills while working on and waiting on assignments.
Do you do weddings?
We offer packages for small nuptials, courthouse "I Do's" and elopements. We do not photograph large, on location, weddings, but will be happy to recommend talented wedding photographers in the Houston area. If you are looking, just contact us to find out whose wedding photography we are in love with. ❤
We need to reschedule, what’s your policy?
If for any reason you are unable to make your scheduled appointments, please call us at 832.326.5336 to reschedule with 72 hours advance notice to avoid a $50 rescheduling fee.
Can we bring our pet to our photo session?
Definately! We would just appreciate knowing ahead of time so we can fill the water bowl and dig out our lint rollers. Kindly consult your photographer about the timing of introducing your furry friend into the session.
How should we dress for our portrait session?
We recommend that you choose simple, textured apparel that reflect your personality. For example: jeans, layered hand knits, corduroy, and wraps with a loose weave. Choose clothes that are flattering to your figure. Avoid clothes with strong patterns, logos or high-contrast stripes. For family or engagement portrait sessions make sure you choose three to four colors and have everyone stick to those shades so that the clothes coordinate together. Some color combinations that work well include: •white, taupe, pink or blue •denim, gray, orange and white •navy blue, white and gray •red, gray, black and white •denim, plum, gray and chartreuse green •black, denim and gray.
Do you have hair suggestions?
Schedule haircuts and salon visits up to three weeks before your photo session. You want to be comfortable with your style. Bring what you need for any touch-ups during the session
How should I do my make-up?
As a general rule, monochromatic (sepia-tone, black and white) photography is different than color. With color photography, wear natural day makeup. For black and white or brown tone/sepia photography, everything will be in shades of gray or brown, so plan as if you were going out for the evening: a little heavier than your normal day makeup. Even for those who don’t wear makeup, we recommend lipstick or mascara for definition. Wear bare or light colored nail polish; in black & white photography red nails will look black. We offer professional hair and make-up for an additional fee.
Where do the sessions take place?
We proudly offer both indoor and outdoor sessions. We have a spacious natural light studio that provides lighting and props for studio shooting. Love the great outdoors? We shoot on location from natural park scene to city lights...it will all depend on what you desire for your session.
Do you offer photography gift certificates?
We certainly do. They make exceptional gifts for new parents, house closings, birthday gifts and more. You can choose between purchasing a session with a certain number of photographs or for a written dollar amount.
Do you have payment plans?
We do! When you place your order, you have the option to set up payment terms, in up to three installments. We will secure your order by credit card, and you may pick up your order after the final payment has been received.
Why is professional portrait photography 'expensive'?
We think it's such a great question that it's deserving of an answer. From the first call you place to our photo studio we are committed to giving you an unparalleled chunk of our time. Planning for the session, preparing, photographing, editing, posting, reviewing, showing, and ordering add up to a significant amount of people hours. Our satisfied clientele know how much of a difference it makes having good people show you a good time.
How soon will we see our photos?
14 to 21 days after your session your Portrait Reveal will be scheduled.
What is the Portrait Reveal?
Our Portrait Reveal Session is an appointment that is made once your images have been processed and are ready to be revealed to you. During your 60 minute reveal session, you will see an atistic creation put together specifically for you. After which, we will sit down and discuss how we can adorn your beautiful home with creative masterpieces.
